The President drew attention to the increase in the number of empty rental apartments
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko noted the increase in the number of empty rental apartments at a meeting on the prospects of housing.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko noted the increase in the number of empty rental apartments at a meeting on the prospects of housing construction and improving the efficiency of using rental housing on September 22, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

- I am informed that the number of empty rental apartments is increasing. Strange how? Now in the list of unclaimed more than 17 thousand residential premises. We built a house and nobody wants it. Many apartments are idle for more than a year. Where's the master's approach? We spend money on maintenance, at this time people are in line, the President was outraged.
Alexander Lukashenko stressed that often previously built housing is simply not repaired. This has led to the fact that at the moment almost 6 thousand uninhabited premises were recognized by local authorities as uninhabitable. They're scheduled to be demolished.
In response to this, Prime Minister Oleksandr Turchin explained that the main problem of idleness, coming into disrepair for living premises concerns not new housing built at the expense of budget funds, but rent, which was assigned to this category in 2016 and was previously departmental, official, not privatized citizens. Turchin noted that in most cases such housing, located in rural areas, remains unclaimed.
- It's different. Sometimes these houses, old things, may need to be demolished, but something can be repaired, brought to mind or sold, the President said.
