President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the meeting outlined approaches to the introduction of licensing of additional education for children and young people. The relevant norms are provided for by the draft law “On changing the laws on licensing”, prepared by the Ministry of Economy, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports with reference to the press service of the Head of State.
- We have been consistently adjusting the state regulation of educational activities for a number of years. I would like to emphasize that we are adjusting, not tightening the screws, as the unscrupulous media or pseudo-experts who have fled abroad sometimes try to present this. Under no circumstances should you look too far away. We need to do what is good for our country. Of course, we will always take into account our opinions, the Belarusian leader said.
He also stressed that the issue of licensing education should be put to an end.
- The main requirement in this matter is to protect our children from all kinds of crooks, to ensure equal working conditions for both state and private entities, the President said.

At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko noted that the sphere of education is state-forming.
- Therefore, we will regulate it taking into account national interests. No matter how much someone likes it, he said.
The head of state asked to report on how the licensing of education has already shown itself, whether it was possible to restore order in the industry. The Belarusian leader pointed to the need to develop clear and understandable criteria for obtaining a license. In addition, he asked what measures are planned to be taken to avoid creating unnecessary tension both in the industry and in society.
