Vaccination against the flu: why after the injection is possible malaise, and when to see a doctor

After vaccination against influenza, some patients may experience mild ailments that are a natural reaction of the body and do not require medical attention. This was told to journalists on October 6 by an epidemiologist, head of the immunoprophylaxis department of the Republican Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health Kirill Ignatov, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
According to the specialist, pain or redness at the injection site, as well as a slight increase in body temperature to 37.5 ° C are normal post-vaccination manifestations. They pass independently and do not act as a reason for a visit to the clinic.
At the same time, K. Ignatov stressed that it is impossible to get sick with the flu due to the vaccination itself:
- In our country, live weakened vaccines have not been used for a long time to prevent influenza. All drugs used today are inactivated. They contain only particles, “fragments” of the virus, on which the body forms immunity. The memory of the residents of Minsk about the symptoms of respiratory infection after the injection 10-15 years ago may be associated with the fact that at the dawn of mass immunization, live vaccines were indeed used. Modern drugs have proven their safety and effectiveness, they are trusted.
However, because influenza vaccines contain chicken protein, people with allergies to this component should be sure to discuss immunization tactics with their healthcare provider for a possible replacement.
