Professor Ionov warned Ryazan about the danger of self-medication of dengue fever

Independent treatment of dengue fever can lead to death, said in an interview with NEWS.ru Professor of the Department of therapy Stanislav Ionov.

According to him, in the initial stages, the virus is difficult to distinguish from other infections. The disease begins with high fever, intoxication, headache and muscle pain. After a few days, subcutaneous hemorrhages and hematomas appear due to vascular damage.

“If treatment is not carried out on time or a person decides to be treated himself, infectious and toxic shock and critical blood clotting disorders are possible, which can lead to death,” Ionov warned.

He stressed that an accurate diagnosis is made only by laboratory tests. Specific serums are used for treatment. The doctor recommended taking paracetamol, as aspirin and NSAIDs increase the risk of bleeding.
