Trade unions SOTSPROF: indexation of pensions should ensure real growth of incomes of citizens

The Association of Trade Unions of Russia SOTSPROF states that the increase in pension payments is not a formal indexation, but an important measure of social protection. According to the chairman of the association Sergey Vostretsov, behind each pension payment is long-term labor of a person, his contribution to the development of the country and the right to a decent life.
In 2027, Russia plans to index all major types of pension payments. According to the Ministry of Labor of Russia, the changes will affect insurance, social and other categories of pensions.
Insurance pensions will be increased in two stages:
The final size of the indexation will depend on the final economic indicators. According to the Ministry of Labor, the average old-age insurance pension after increases can be about 29.9 thousand rubles. For pension payments in the budget of the Social Fund for 2027, almost 13.4 trillion rubles are provided.
Social pensions will be indexed from April 1. For working pensioners, an undeclared recalculation is provided taking into account insurance premiums, and additional recalculations will be carried out for certain categories of citizens.
Sergey Vostretsov noted that the multi-stage indexation mechanism allows flexible consideration of changes in the economic situation and actual inflation. Trade unions intend to ensure that the interests of pensioners are fully protected when approving budget parameters.
“A pensioner shall not have to choose every month between medicines, groceries, utility bills and other necessary expenses. Indexation should provide real, not nominal, income growth. It is also important to improve the mechanisms of support for working pensioners: their work should be economically and socially protected, and insurance premiums are reflected in pension rights, the chairman of the Sotsprof said.
The association emphasizes that the final parameters of indexation will be determined after the approval of budget decisions. Since pensions are the main source of livelihood for millions of citizens, the upcoming indexation has not only economic but also great social significance: it should guarantee confidence in the future and a decent level of social protection.
