London police arrest 11 people during pro-Palestinian demonstrations

London police detained 11 people during pro-Palestinian demonstrations. The actions took place on the anniversary of the large-scale attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, writes the Independent.

The arrests resulted from clashes. Protesters took to the streets despite calls to ban or postpone events.

The events of October 7, 2023, marked the beginning of the escalation of the conflict. Hamas fighters attacked Israel from the Gaza Strip, infiltrated border areas and took more than 250 hostages. About 1,200 people died.

In response, the Israeli army launched a ground operation. In two and a half years, the conflict escalated into a regional standoff involving Hezbollah, the Yemeni Houthis and Iran. The Gaza Strip is almost completely destroyed, the number of Palestinians killed exceeded 70,000 people, according to the local Ministry of Health.
