The 80-year road: the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Railways celebrates its anniversary

A solemn meeting and a festive concert in honor of the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Railways were held on September 25 in the Cultural and Sports Center of the capital hub, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

As the head of the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Railways, Vladimir Shevchenko, told reporters before the gala evening, today the company accounts for more than a third of freight turnover and about 40% of passenger traffic on the entire Belarusian railway. Particular attention is paid to technical modernization.

— Our foundation is the Children's Railway, where we raise the future generation from school. This year, more than 500 children studied there, and 60% of graduates (38 people) entered specialized educational institutions. This record for admission was set by our Minsk College of Railway Transport named after Y.P. Yushkevich — about 300 first-year students were enrolled there. In total, about 600 young specialists — yesterday's students of universities and colleges — have joined our ranks this year. Economists, engineers, representatives of technical specialties came to us, "said V. Shevchenko.

The manager drew attention to the fact that each young specialist at the enterprise is assigned an experienced employee who performs the role of a mentor.

— As for the training of more highly qualified specialists, for example, when appointing a head of a station or a head of a department, we also assign a curator to each of them, conduct advanced training courses directly at the production site, — summed up V. Shevchenko. — Through the system of adaptation and training, we systematically attract promising young employees to a higher professional level.

At the festive meeting, it was noted that the main asset and pride of the capital hub are people and the continuity of generations — the total length of service of the railway dynasties of the branch exceeds 5 thousand years. In total, by the anniversary of the enterprise, almost 200 employees of the capital branch of the Belarusian Railways received well-deserved awards.

For a significant contribution to the life of the capital, many representatives of the labor collective were awarded by the Minsk City Executive Committee and the Minsk City Council of Deputies. Certificates of honor and gratitude to the leaders of the highway were presented by the head of the administration of the Oktyabrsky district of Minsk Eduard Tomilchik.

Viktor Perekhod, a representative of the Minsk motor-car depot, was among those whose professional merits were highly appreciated by the landmark date. His personal experience on the railway is 45 years.

— For me, the railway is not just a profession, it is my whole life and a consciously chosen path, which I have never regretted, — said V. Perekhod. — I was born in Baranovichi, and my whole childhood passed under the knock of wheels, so dedication to this business was laid from an early age. Today's award is primarily a recognition of the merits of our entire cohesive team of motor-car depots. Working for the benefit of the native branch, ensuring the reliability and safety of train traffic for almost half a century is a huge pride and responsibility.

The gala evening ended with a festive concert with the participation of the leading creative teams of the Cultural and Sports Center of the Minsk Branch of the Belarusian Railways and artists from among the highway workers themselves.
