Revealed why Depardieu refused to move to Russia forever

French actor Gerard Depardieu decided not to move to Russia, fearing a negative reaction from the French courts. This was stated by the producer Arnaud Frille, who for a long time worked closely with the artist.

According to the producer, he previously offered Depardieu to move to Russia, so that the artist was left alone. Initially, the actor showed interest in this proposal, but later completely abandoned this idea.

Frille explained that Depardieu considered such a step too difficult because of the numerous ongoing legal proceedings. The actor expressed concern that in the event of his departure to Russia, others will think that he is a fugitive from justice. The producer added that he believes this decision is wrong, but has to accept the circumstances.

In May 2025, Gerard Depardieu was found guilty of sexual harassment. The court sentenced the artist to 18 months of suspended imprisonment. He was found guilty of assaulting two women while working on set in 2021.
