In Belarus, the investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the population of the BSSR during the Great Patriotic War continues. This was stated today, October 7, the Prosecutor General of Belarus Dmitry Gora during a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, at which parliamentarians heard information from the Prosecutor General on the results of their activities.

Dmitry Gora reported:
- During the period under review, the Prosecutor General’s Office supported state prosecution in five criminal cases against Nazi criminals and their accomplices. Another criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people against Buglai, the eighth in a row, is currently being considered in the Supreme Court.

In order to preserve historical justice and perpetuate the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War, the Prosecutor General’s Office initiated the creation of a single memorial sign “Tree of Life” dedicated to the victims of the genocide of the Belarusian people. Over the past two years, such signs have been installed in all regional cities and Minsk (on the territory of the Trostenets memorial complex). In addition, on the initiative of the Prosecutor General’s Office, work continues to include the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
- Taking into account the information obtained during the investigation of the criminal case, prosecutors in cooperation with other state bodies and public structures organized a purposeful work to preserve the memorials of the Great Patriotic War, said Dmitry Gora. — Together with Belteleradiocompany, the project “Book of Memory” was implemented. “Personal Archive” is a series of 16 artistic and journalistic films in which heroes – people from different fields of activity – share their memories of parents, grandparents who survived in the occupied territories of the BSSR under the yoke of the German fascist invaders.
