Reform of universities: what will change for Kuzbass applicants
The Olympics will be more difficult

Kuzbass schoolchildren and their parents should be prepared: admission to universities can seriously change. The Ministry of education proposed a reform that will come into force from 2027/28 academic year, if it is approved. This will affect everyone who plans to go to university.
What's new? First, there will be more mandatory exams. Physics will have to pass to everyone who wants to study in engineering specialties - there are now 37 such areas. History will become mandatory where it was possible to choose between it and social science. Mathematics is a must for everyone who enters information security.
Secondly, the multidisciplinary competition will be cancelled. Now applicants will compete for places in specific specialties, rather than choosing from several.
But there are bonuses. If you pass the exam in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science or biology at 60+ points, but do not use this subject in the main competition, you can get an additional 15-25 points. Also, points will be given for the “Code of the Future”, training in DOSAAF and the medal of the Federation Council “For courage shown”.
It will become more difficult for Olympians: only winners will be able to enter without entrance tests, and only with results for grades 10–11.
Now you can apply for a maximum of five directions in one university. And on paid training will be allowed to use maternity capital and educational loans, but you will have to make an advance payment for the first semester. The Ministry of Education believes that this will make the competition fairer.
