Rector of BSU met with media representatives on the eve of the 105th anniversary of the university

The solemn reception of the rector of BSU Andrei Koroly for representatives of the republican media took place at the university on October 6, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

The event was organized on the eve of the 105th anniversary of the leading university of Belarus. It was attended by 20 representatives of the media: leaders, journalists of domestic printed publications, news agencies, television and radio channels.

The first classes at the university began on October 30, 1921. Its 105th anniversary is a significant event for the national education system.

BSU is not just a university, it is a university that accumulates the very formation of Belarusian statehood, said A.Korol.

Over its history, more than 200 thousand specialists have come out of the walls of BSU. Among the graduates are outstanding scientists, public and state figures.

Ah. The King thanked the journalists for their information support, dedication to the university and sharing its traditions. The rector presented the BSU Honorary Diplomas to the media representatives. Among the awardees is the head of the department of education and science of the editorial office of the newspapers “Evening Minsk” and “Minsk courier” of the agency “Minsk-Novosti” Julia Burdo.

A briefing was held during the solemn event. A.Korol, answering journalists’ questions, spoke about the significant projects of the university, the development of the university infrastructure and innovations in education.

In BSU for the anniversary published a photo chronicle telling about more than a century of history of the university.

- The publication was published in three languages - Russian, Chinese and English, contains unique photos that reflect different aspects of the life of the university, including student and scientific. This is a record of people the university is proud of. The publication captures the meetings related to the visit to the BSU of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the highest officials of the country. And today we received a large number of applications for an additional circulation of this fundamental publication, said King.

Over the past five years, the university has been awarded the title of best exporter of the year in the field of education four times. According to the latest data, more than 5.5 thousand foreign citizens from 50 countries study at BSU.

The rector also spoke about promising projects in the field of science. Thus, students and scientists of the university are working to create a satellite of a new technological sample - a picosatellite. The device is small, so it is called a pocket satellite. It may well be taken by an astronaut, then launching into low-Earth orbit.

Korol also noted that the overhaul of the main building of the BSU is continuing, which is planned to be completed in the autumn of 2027.

- Street. Academician Kurchatov is building a training and laboratory building of the biological faculty, which provides for filling with serious equipment. Scientists not only of our university, but also of the whole country, will be able to perform priority tasks in the field of biology and biotechnology, said A.Korol.

The facility is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027.
