The rector of NCFU offered the head of the CBD a package of projects for the development of the republic

The delegation of the North Caucasus Federal University headed by the rector, Professor Tatiana Shebzukhova visited the Kabardino-Balkar Republic. At the meeting with the head of the region Kazbek Kokov in Nalchik, practical steps for scientific, technological and personnel support of investment projects of the republic were discussed.

The working visit continued a series of trips of the NCFU delegation to the regions of the macroregion, during which meetings have already been held with the heads of Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia and Ingushetia.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, the parties focused on the implementation of the Strategy for Social and Economic Development of the Republic until 2040. Kazbek Kokov noted the interest in the scientific potential of universities working on specific tasks of the economy of the republic, including in industry, agro-industrial complex and the development of mountainous territories.

The parties already have a basis for joint work: more than 600 students from Kabardino-Balkaria study at NCFU, and over the past five years the university has graduated more than 900 specialists from the republic. Tatiana Shebzukhova stressed that NCFU does not intend to compete with the universities of the republic and is ready to act as an integrator, unite laboratories and attract the competencies of the universities of the district.

The rector proposed to focus on three areas: industry, agricultural technologies and the development of mountainous areas, and training should be part of each project. In the field of industry, together with KBSU named after H. M. Berbekov, it is proposed to conduct an audit of technological tasks, including within the framework of the Tarnyauz mining project, with the formation of a portfolio of three to five applied projects.

In the agro-industrial complex, the bet is made on “smart gardening” and breeding work: the NCFU Genomic Center has already formed a base for 150 apple and pear samples, and together with the Kabardino-Balkar State Agrarian University named after V. M. Kokov, it is planned to test solutions at one production site. Separately, a project on sheep breeding with genotyping of the breeding core is being worked out.

The third direction was scientific and personnel support for the development of the tourist cluster Elbrus, including the analysis of the tourist flow and training programs for employees of the hospitality industry.

Meetings were also held with the rectors of universities of the republic, which are part of the Consortium of Universities of the North Caucasus, during which they agreed to launch an engineering and technological project, coordinate the preparation of a pilot tourism project in Elbrus and a network educational module, and consider the launch of a pilot project “smart garden”. The parties agreed to form roadmaps for each direction.

NCFU held an international scientific conference “Battle for the Caucasus”.
