The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova in an interview with RIA Novosti reported that the peak incidence of influenza in the current epidemiological season in Russia is expected for the New Year holidays.
According to her, over time, the flu virus begins to intensify, and mainly the peak of influenza infection activity falls on the New Year holidays, and then in mid-January. Popova added that in some cases, depending on which viruses are activated, the peak may occur in the last decade of December.
She noted that the time difference is small, but by this time it is better to be already protected, vaccinated and have sufficient post-vaccination immunity, which certainly protects against the disease.
Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor reported an increase in the incidence of influenza and COVID-19.
