Russians warned about a new scheme of fraud with child benefits

Phone fraudsters began to extort money from Russian parents under the pretext of possible cancellation of child benefits. Attackers pose as employees of the Social Fund of Russia and convince citizens to transfer savings to special accounts. About the new scheme RIA Novosti reported in the press service of the platform “Moshelivka” of the Popular Front.

Scammers call families with children and claim that when checking bank accounts, suspicious cash receipts from third parties were found. According to the interlocutor, such transfers can allegedly be taken into account when calculating family income and lead to the termination of social payments.

To avoid loss of benefits, fraudsters offer to confirm the legality of the money received and exclude them from the total income of the family. To do this, parents are advised to temporarily transfer all savings to a special “tax-free transit account”.

Attackers claim that after such an operation, the funds will not be included in the financial statements and will not affect the appointment of payments. In fact, the offer to transfer savings to a third-party account is part of a fraudulent scheme.

Specialists of Moshelovka stressed that the Social Fund of Russia does not require transferring money to any third-party accounts to confirm the right to child benefits.

All issues related to the accounting of family income and the appointment of social payments should be resolved through official notifications on the portal of public services or by personal contact with the Social Fund.

Experts also warned about the danger of transferring confirmation codes from SMS, data for entering government services and banking applications. Such information cannot be communicated to telephone interlocutors, even if it is presented by employees of government agencies.
