Sales of tours for the New Year holidays this season were about 12% lower than last year. This applies to popular Russian destinations, including Arkhyz, Dombay, the Sochi mountain cluster and the Krasnodar Territory. This was announced by the Vice-President of the Alliance of travel agencies of Russia Alexan Mkrtchyan.
According to the expert, the cost of accommodation in four and five-star hotels in the coming weeks will begin to decline, and shortly before the holidays, tour operators can launch large-scale sales. Therefore, with the booking of hotels, in his opinion, it is still possible to postpone. Rail tickets are an exception: it is better to purchase them in advance, since sales open 90 days before the trip, and prices increase over time.
Among foreign destinations, Mkrtchyan singled out the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc, where there is a shortage of hotel places. At the same time, discounts on tours to the UAE and Egypt can appear in one to two weeks. The expert advised not to postpone the organization of New Year's holidays for December and decide on a trip in November.
“If you fly iron, buy,” said Mkrtchyan, speaking about non-refundable air tickets.
Such rates he recommends to choose only those who are confident in the trip. If plans may change, for example, due to family circumstances or exams, it is better to pay extra for the opportunity to return the money.
Among the most budgetary areas for the winter, the expert attributed Belarus, Abkhazia and Armenia. Among the more distant routes, he singled out Egypt. Turkey, he said, is out of high season. The most expensive options are traditionally the Maldives and five-star hotels in Phuket. At the same time, the final cost of rest depends primarily on the chosen hotel: even in one country, prices for accommodation and tours can vary significantly.
