The reason for the inspection was the complaint of tourists. They filmed the man in a video as he told the group about local attractions. According to the applicants, the Russian then began to threaten them and demanded to delete the record.
After the appeal, law enforcement officers established the location of the vessel, which was located east of the island of Maprao. They found Constantine on board. The man told passengers about the objects of the island and provided photography services.
In a conversation with police, the Russian admitted that he worked as a guide. He said that he conducted tours for Russian tourists and received money for it. The man could not provide a work permit.
The Russian was charged with the activities of the guide without the appropriate permission. After his arrest, he was taken to Phuket Police Station for further investigation.
In Thailand, the work of a tour guide is allowed only to citizens of the country. The violation carries a prison sentence or a fine, as well as deportation.
Earlier in Phuket, a 33-year-old Russian man who worked as a tour guide without permission was detained. According to the Central Bureau of Investigation of Thailand, the man was detained before leaving for a sea tour of the Andaman Sea.
