A unique concert of the men’s choir of the Karelian Philharmonic under the leadership of Alexei Umnov was performed on the last day of the unique exhibition. Repin’s legendary painting Sadko, which left the Russian Museum for the first time to visit the exhibition hall of the Kizhi Museum in Petrozavodsk, leaves Karelia after three months of exhibition.
The Sadko experience is the beginning of a new phase of partnership. Next year in Petrozavodsk is expected painting “Bayan” Viktor Vasnetsov.
“Bayan” – this monumental work was written in 1910 and became the final chord in the epic theme of the artist. An interesting fact, for the painting by Ilya Repin “Sadko” (1876) in the role of the main character posed Viktor Vasnetsov. Currently, both works are part of the collection of the Russian Museum.
Vasnetsov’s painting will continue to acquaint residents and guests of Karelia with the “popular” work of Russian artists. This is of particular value for our northern region - a huge number of epics were recorded by collectors on our territory. And the tradition of epic tale-telling in modern times is honored and preserved by the Kizhi Museum-Reserve.
Earlier it was reported that Petrozavodsk residents found errors in the painting of the artist.
