Stavropol gardeners collected 66 thousand tons of apples

In the gardens of Stavropol continues to collect apples of winter and autumn-winter varieties. Cleaning was carried out on more than 60% of the area. Gross fruit harvest reached 66.4 thousand tons.

About half of the harvested crops were sent to fertiliser. Winter and autumn-winter varieties occupy more than 70% of the industrial apple plantations of the region and are well suited for long-term storage. Therefore, residents of the region and other regions can buy fresh Stavropol fruits even in the off-season.

In the region there are 17 fertile reservoirs with a total capacity of 74 thousand tons. By the end of the year, it is planned to complete an investment project for the construction of a fertile reservoir in Nevinnomyssk with a capacity of 30 thousand tons.

Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory Oleg Bezmenov noted that the Stavropol region is rightfully one of the leading centers of gardening in the country: modern intensive gardens, own nurseries, advanced scientific technologies and developed storage infrastructure allow farmers to confidently increase production and provide the country with high-quality domestic fruits. This year, within the framework of the regional state program “Development of agriculture”, 528 million rubles were allocated for the development of horticulture.

Earlier it was reported that the Stavropol region threshed 313.9 thousand tons of corn.
