Sergey Sobyanin spoke about the comprehensive improvement of Gorky Park

This year in Moscow completed the comprehensive improvement of the Central Park of culture and recreation named after Maxim Gorky. Sergey Sobyanin summed up the results, noting that the park leads to a world level. Already completed the first two stages - Pushkin embankment and Pioneer pond. The embankment after reconstruction became the most popular in the country. For 2027-2028, it is planned to improve about half of the parterre part of the park, including the Golitsyn ponds.

The third stage covered 17.45 hectares, including the area at the main entrance and the arch. There, the facade, roof, doors and fences of the observation deck were restored, lighting was added, walking paths and recreation areas were created. More than 15 thousand coniferous and perennial flowering plants, including roses and hydrangeas, were planted, art objects were installed.

In October, the main work on the modernization of the main fountain was completed. Its area has grown from 3.6 thousand to 11 thousand square meters, the water surface occupies 6.6 thousand. The fountain consists of three bowls, the number of dynamic jets increased from 94 to 1119, and the maximum height reached 60 meters instead of 25. The underground room under the fountain area of 6.5 thousand square meters is equipped with a unique engineering infrastructure.

For visitors, a balcony is equipped with a view of the main bowl, and the space under the water arches in the heat will become a place for children's games. Small bowls are made on the same level with paving, without high sides and fences. According to Sobyanin, the fountain is unique in terms of technical characteristics, work continues, the full launch is scheduled for May, and in winter one of the largest skating rinks in Moscow will be placed here.

Now a modern sports zone is being created in the park: the infrastructure will be updated on the former sports ground and two pavilions with a total area of 689 square meters with cafes and changing rooms will be built. In the stalls, outdated stalls will be replaced by pavilions with catering, vending machines, toilets and security posts. In winter, the skating rink with an area of 18.3 thousand square meters, capable of receiving more than 10 thousand people daily, and the length of the ice paths will be 2.3 kilometers.

The fourth stage of modernization will cover 27.24 hectares, including Golitsyn ponds and a green theater on Krymsky Val Street. Work will be completed in 2027-2028. In 2028, Gorky Park will celebrate 100 years. Today it unites four territories with a total area of 212 hectares: "Museon", parterre, Neskuchny Garden and Sparrow Mountains. Every year the park receives more than 36 million visitors and hosts more than four thousand events.

In 2024-2025, the Pushkin embankment was improved between the Crimean and Pushkin bridges. There appeared all-season pavilions resembling a cruise liner, two berths, a patrol and rescue station, new areas of bathing and beach recreation. On Olive Beach, a multi-level zone with sun loungers was equipped, and on Pioneer Pond for the first time was allowed to swim and sunbathe. In 2027, a sports cluster with an all-season pavilion will open.

In 2026, improvement of more than 2.6 thousand objects with a total area of more than 5.1 thousand hectares is planned in Moscow. The list includes five parks, two major sports facilities, 44 all-season sports infrastructure facilities, 101 skating rinks, nine iconic facilities, 480 streets, over 1,900 courtyards, 36 transport facilities and 10 other territories. Complex improvement of more than 2.1 thousand objects has already been completed. Details about the development of Moscow are collected in a special project on the portal mos.ru.
