A group of masked teenagers entered the Les Iris Lyceum in the town of Lormont near Bordeaux, staged a pogrom and set fire to the room. According to the director of the institution Thierry Malevitz, preliminary damage is estimated at several hundred thousand euros.
The incident occurred after a general meeting of students. After its completion, the young men broke into the building and began damaging the property.
In several classrooms, they flipped furniture, smashed windows and ruined equipment. In addition, about 10 computers were removed from the lyceum. A post posted on social network X shows that one of the participants in the incident sprays the contents of a fire extinguisher in the corridor.
In one of the rooms, teenagers set fire to a stock of paper. Only the cost of destroyed stocks is tentatively estimated at 100-200 thousand euros. The price of each of the stolen computers is about 3 thousand euros.
The prosecutor's office of Bordeaux announced a press conference near the lyceum, in which the prosecutor, the prefect of the department, the rector of the Bordeaux Academy, the mayor of Lormont, the chairman of the regional council were to take part.
About 1,000 high school students and 100 students study at Les Iris. The Lyceum belongs to the educational system of the Academy of Bordeaux.
