At the head university and in the Pyatigorsk branch of the North Caucasus Federal University, an international scientific conference “Battle for the Caucasus: Problems and Prospects of Research, Historical Memory” was held.
The event was organized jointly with the regional branches of the Russian Historical Society and the Russian Military Historical Society with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the National Center for Historical Memory.
The conference was held in full-time and online formats. Its participants were scientists, public figures, journalists, students, undergraduates and graduate students, historians, political scientists, philologists, specialists in the field of archival and museum affairs, teachers, representatives of Cossack societies, military-patriotic and public organizations.
The Great Patriotic War passed through the history of all the peoples of the Soviet Union, uniting people of different nationalities and religions before a common threat. I am sure that the colleagues speaking at the conference share a common opinion on the need for such scientific and public events dedicated to the heroic past of our peoples, said Professor Tatiana Shebzukhova, Rector of the NCFU.
The event ended with a working meeting of the participants of the university consortium of laboratories studying the events of the Second World War and countering the falsification of history. In NCFU, such a laboratory was created in 2025.
