Lenin Square after reconstruction for 196 million: broken benches and rusty toilet
One of the once-abandoned squares - the name B
Work began in May 2025. They were engaged in OOO “Uni-stroy”: tiled pavement of sidewalks on an area of 6,000 square meters, the device of street lighting, the installation of benches, vases and urns, the planting of 117 seedlings of white acacia, apple trees, sharpleaf maple, cherryomukha, willow, tuya, mackerel and fir, sowing lawn. The total area of landscaping was more than 4,500 square meters. 160,376,740.06 rubles were allocated for these works, although the contract was won for a large amount - 187 million. The old gardens were turned into shops. For the color-dynamic fountain was responsible LLC "New Century" - its cost was 32,017,654.50 rubles.
In total, 196,728,627.76 rubles were allocated for the reconstruction of the public territory, excluding the cost of repair work on the foundation of the Lenin monument (approximately 17 million rubles) and the toilet for 7.6 million rubles. The monument to the leader, who disappeared from the square in 2018, lay in a box on the territory of the Federal Property Management Agency for six years, returned to its rightful place in November 2025. The object of cultural heritage was erected on a new pedestal of monolithic blocks of architectural concrete, and the work was paid for by philanthropist Mikhail Konnov. The modular toilet was installed in the park in 2024, but before the opening of the park it was closed to visitors, Orenday said.
What do you see today, five months after the opening? The monument to Lenin is in its rightful place, but its expensive pedestal is surrounded by unaesthetic seams and patches. The grass in the park stopped mowing, despite the warm autumn. Urns partially lost functionality, paint peeled, white objects became dirty. But the flimsy benches suffered the most: several pieces remained intact, the rest have broken or unscrewed racks. To the quality of the benches, visitors had questions since the opening - they "danced" in the spring and continue now. The modular toilet, which works from 9:00 to 23:00, was covered with rust: the cabin for people with limited mobility was especially corroded - handrails, walls, paper holder, garbage can and toilet bowl rusted so much that it seems that through cracks are about to appear.
The story of Lenin Square is a contrast between the scale of investments and the real result. Almost 197 million rubles, a modern fountain, a new pedestal of the monument and thousands of square meters of tiles - but after five months, residents see broken benches, a rusty toilet and uncut grass. The toilet is especially indicative: the modular design, installed in 2024, in a short time came to a state in which the cabin for people with limited mobility risks becoming unusable. The benches that have been "danced" since the opening broke first - and that speaks to the quality of the materials or the installation. And uncut grass in warm autumn is no longer a question for the contractor, but for the current content. As a result, reconstruction for hundreds of millions turned into an object that requires new repairs, not standing even six months.
And do you think that contractors who have made such defects should eliminate them at their own expense, or the problem is that after the object is delivered, there is simply no one to keep it?
