Smolensk schoolchildren are introduced to the economy of the region in the framework of the course "Russia - my horizons"

In schools of the Smolensk region, as part of extracurricular activities, the course “Russia is my horizons” is being implemented in all schools of the country for students of grades 6–11 since 2023. In the academic year 2026/27, this course was updated: the regional component became compulsory and now occupies a significant part of the program.

The purpose of the classes is to help children consciously approach the choice of profession, expand their horizons and show what industries are developing in the region. At the lessons, students get acquainted with modern professions, achievements of Russia and the Smolensk region, the specifics of the work of leading enterprises, as well as with the directions of professional education and the advantages of targeted training.

Special attention is paid to the federal project “Professionality”. Students are told about the possibilities of obtaining secondary vocational education in colleges and technical schools, where training is carried out in close connection with the real needs of employers in the region.

The classes were devoted to the work of enterprises of chemical, machine-building, construction industries, agriculture, as well as the training of pedagogical personnel and medicine. In September, students were told about the nuclear industry in the region. In October, the thematic block will be devoted to the field of information technology.
