The Metropolitan State Traffic Inspectorate reminds pedestrians of the need to protect themselves with the help of retroreflective elements. They increase visibility on an unlit road and reduce the risk of an accident involving them. This is reported in the telegram channel of the UGAI GUVD of the Minsk City Executive Committee, writes sb.by.

According to the traffic police, when the headlights are turned on, the driver notices an ordinary pedestrian from a distance of 30 meters, and the use of reflectors allows to increase this figure to 150 meters.
Reflective elements should be placed on outerwear, shoes, hats, as well as on backpacks and bags.
Pedestrians should move exclusively on sidewalks and pedestrian paths, and cross the carriageway only on pedestrian crossings. Even with a green traffic light, you should not immediately go to the roadway. Make sure drivers see you and give way.
Also, the traffic police reminded drivers that according to paragraph 166.9 of traffic rules, until September 5 inclusive movement of vehicles in the daytime should be carried out with the dipped headlights or daytime running lights.
