Social contract for 350,000 turned into a criminal case for Penza

A resident of the Nikolsky district of the Penza region, a man of forty years, became a defendant in a criminal case of fraud with social payments. The investigation was completed in the Gorodische inter-district investigative department of the regional management of the Investigative Committee of Russia. He is accused under part three of Article 159.2 of the Criminal Code – embezzlement of budget funds when receiving benefits on a large scale.

According to the investigation, at the beginning of 2024, this man, who earned furniture repair, appealed to the district department of social protection. He applied for a social contract to start his own business as a sole proprietor. However, he deliberately misrepresented his income between September and November 2023 in the documents, which were grossly underestimated. This allowed him to pass the test and receive state support. As a result, on the basis of false information, he illegally seized 350 thousand rubles.

In order to ensure damages, the investigator went to court with a request to seize the property of the accused. The court imposed an interim measure on his car, the market value of which exceeds half a million rubles.
