Advice to the hostess of Kalmykia: tomorrow bake a cake

Our ancestors baked on the feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God buns and pies, which were treated to all relatives, neighbors and shared with those in need.

According to legend, generosity and cordiality on this day will lead to prosperity next year. They also baked pancakes. They did not eat them at once – at first they went around all corners of the house and read a prayer to the Most Holy Mother of God.

When we set the table, we did not forget about the house. So they put a bowl of milk behind the stove. The people appeased the domestic spirit to keep it alive in the cold winter.
