Council of the Republic and Senate of Pakistan sign Memorandum of Understanding

The solemn ceremony of signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Senate of the Parliament of Pakistan took place in the Council of the Republic on September 24, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti news agency reports.

Signatures under the document were put by Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalia Kochanova and Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Said Yusuf Raza Gilani. The agreement formed a long-term legal basis for deepening the comprehensive ties between the two states.

- The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is an important step forward, which gives a powerful impetus to Belarusian-Pakistani relations, Kochanova said. We have created a solid basis for the effective implementation of the roadmap for the development of comprehensive cooperation, holding joint events, intensifying the work of parliamentary friendship groups, building interregional contacts and coordinating efforts for the sake of peace, stability and prosperity of our peoples.

Said Yusuf Raza Gilani noted the high status and practical value of the agreements.

- The signed document will allow not only to bring our inter-parliamentary partnership to a qualitatively new level, but also to more effectively promote cooperation projects in the trade and economic sphere, as well as to speak from common agreed positions at international platforms – the UN, the SCO and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
