Council of the Republic approves bill on identification and traceability of animals

Today, October 7, at a meeting of the fifth session of the Council of the Republic of the eighth convocation, members of the Council of the Republic approved the draft Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Identification, Registration, Traceability of Animals (herds), Identification and Traceability of Animal Products", writes sb.by.
The draft law was prepared taking into account the practice of applying the current legislation and is aimed at comprehensive food and biological safety, protecting the health of citizens, as well as further increasing the export potential of domestic agricultural products.
The document introduces new conceptual terms, expands the list of animal species to be identified, regulates strict deadlines for entering information into the state information system and fixes the right of veterinary services to conduct cameral inspections to ensure full traceability of products from the farm to the consumer’s table.
