The attack of the predator became the day of October 8. According to operational services, on this day, about 20 kilometers from the village of Salton in a wild parking lot in a wooded area, where the hives of local beekeepers were previously exhibited, there were two comrades - a 15-year-old boy and his adult friend. A young man came here to check the bee hives.

However, they were not the only ones who came here - a bear came out to the hives. Noticing him, the comrades rushed at random: the teenager climbed the tree, and his friend ran away to the side. But the beast is no stranger to height. He took the young man out and threw him to the ground. After the predator began to bite the guy, tore his neck and head, caused damage to the clavicle area and lacerations. One of the bites, the bear damaged the boy's cell phone, which was lying in his pocket. Because of this, the smartphone battery ignited, causing a thermal burn to a minor, but at the same time scaring off the animal.

On the fact of the predator attack on the teenager, investigators opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence). Law enforcement officers will establish the circumstances of the incident, as well as give a legal assessment of the actions of officials to ensure the safety of the population of the district.

The prosecutor’s office of the Altai Territory also initiated an inspection. The department was put under control the adoption of a procedural decision on this incident.

“In order to fully and objectively establish all the circumstances of the incident, the implementation of federal legislation is being checked. Following the inspection, if there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken to prevent such cases, the press center of the regional prosecutor's office said.

Fortunately, the teenager survived a bear attack. However, from his paws he was seriously injured. Preliminary ambulance doctors assessed his condition as moderate severity. However, later, when the teenager was taken to the hospital, it became clear to doctors that the patient was in serious condition.

About three o'clock in the afternoon on October 8, the young man was hospitalized in the Central City Hospital of Biysk. A multidisciplinary team of doctors, primarily neurosurgeons and surgeons, carried out the necessary set of diagnostic measures and primary surgical treatment of wounds.

The boy was urgently taken to the operating room for complex surgery, including operations on the brain, abdominal and chest. In total, it lasted more than three hours. During the operation, doctors conducted an audit of the entire skull and removed cerebral hematomas.

“The patient received multiple injuries: head, scalp, facial skeleton and neck. These injuries were the main problem. After the operation, we conducted telemedicine consultations with the Federal Center and colleagues from Barnaul. A collegial decision was made to transfer the patient to a higher level of care, since specialized treatment is required for injuries of this severity, said Sergey Kovyazin, chief doctor of the CGB Biysk.

The next day, October 9, the teenager was taken to the BSMB No. 1 of Barnaul. And although the medical institution has a wealth of experience in the treatment of severe injuries, its specialists faced the consequences of the attack of a wild beast for the first time. However, the boy’s condition was stabilized.

A little later, the doctors decided to hospitalize the teenager in a federal hospital. From Barnaul on October 10, he was evacuated by a brigade of the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine on board the sanitary service. The young man was taken to the intensive care unit of the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health of Russia in Moscow.

“The boy suffered multiple bitten wounds to both upper limbs and torso, burns to the anterior abdominal wall, traumatic brain injury. Upon admission, a full laboratory and instrumental examination, including computed tomography, was performed, consultations of specialized specialists were held. The patient is on an artificial ventilation device, his condition is assessed as severe, but stable. In the near future, a multidisciplinary team of doctors will determine a plan for further treatment, including surgical intervention, said Anna Prytal, Head of the Resuscitation and Intensive Care Department of the RDC.

The further condition of the victim has not yet been commented on.

It is worth noting that the teenager and his friend were in the forest despite the introduced emergency regime because of the danger of predators reaching people. It was introduced two weeks before the incident with the attack of the beast. During this time on the territory of the Salton district hunters managed to get about 30 individuals of brown bear.

Since August 21, the migration of large predators has been monitored in the municipality. In this regard, the heads of settlements should conduct explanatory work with local residents about the restrictions associated with the appearance of bears.

After the incident, a search was launched for the attacking animal. Operational services, zoologists and hunting specialists have begun the corresponding work. Representatives of tenants of hunting grounds LLC "Lesopt-Tranzit", LLC "Belovodye", LLC "Sirius" began to patrol the places where the beast appeared.

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Altai Territory, three rapid response groups consisting of 12 hunters were sent to the Soltonsky district. They were given all the necessary permits to shoot the animal.

As of October 9, three bears were killed near the site of the predator’s attack on a teenager. At the moment it is not established whether among the shot animals was the one who attacked the boy. “So far, work is underway in this direction,” the regional Ministry of Natural Resources stressed.
