Average power supply recovery time reduced to 52 minutes – Minsk cable networks

Cable replacement, telemechanization, substation reconstruction. Measures to improve the reliability of power supply were discussed on October 9 at a meeting of the working group on the maintenance and improvement of the city, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
- The preparations for the autumn-winter period have been completed in full, said Alexander Ritchko, director of the Minsk Cable Networks branch of the Minskenergo enterprise.
The causes of emergency shutdowns are constantly being analysed. The main - violation of cable insulation - accounts for three quarters of cases, and about one in nine is due to damage caused by the actions of unauthorized persons.
- In 2021-2025, there is a steady trend towards a decrease in the statistics of emergency shutdowns, which is primarily due to an increase in the volume of replacement of expired cable lines. It helps to reduce the number of outages and systematic work to replace the end couplings, which fail due to high temperatures, said A. Ritchko.
For nine months replaced more than 40 km of cable lines 6/20 kV. By the end of the year, they plan to reach a figure of more than 50 km. The repair of power grids is carried out in accordance with the schedule: during the reporting period the work was carried out in full.
- Every year the percentage of telemechanization of objects increases, which also contributes to reducing the time of outages. Thus, the level of telemechanization for 35/110 kV substations is already about 94%, added the director of Minsk Cable Networks.
Thanks to the measures taken, the following result was achieved: if the average time to restore power supply during emergency outages during the previous heating season was 55 minutes, then for 9 months of this year it was reduced to 52 minutes.
This year, a planned preventive repair of three 110 kV substations is planned.
“The task will be completed in full, as well as plans to replace batteries and overhaul transformers,” Ritchko assured.
The reconstruction of the Green Meadow substation in the Sevastopol Park is being completed: the commissioning of the power facility is expected in November. To power the North Coast complex, 110/20 kV “Beregovaya” and “Drozdy” substations are being built.
Preventive measures are constantly being taken for 110 kV overhead lines. Work continues to replace them with cable: 60 km is expected to be relayed until 2028.
