It became known how to execute the shooter in Fort Hood

The execution of military psychiatrist Nidal Hassan, who staged the shooting in Fort Hood in 2009, will be held publicly. This was stated by the head of the Pentagon Pete Hegseth.

According to Hegset, Hassan, sentenced to death, will be shot in the territory of Fort Hood. The U.S. Army ordered the execution on December 3, 2026. It will be carried out with the help of a firing squad.

On November 5, 2009, Hassan opened fire at a military base medical facility. As a result, 13 people were killed, another 32 were injured. In 2013, a military court found him guilty and sentenced him to death.

Hassan represented himself in court and admitted responsibility for the attack. The execution would be the first execution of a U.S. soldier since 1961, and the first execution since 1945.
