About how Minsk prepared for the winter and when the capital will turn on heating, told on the air of the TV channel ONT. It's from sb.by.

Preparations for the heating season began in May and are already coming to an end. We have repaired more than 8 thousand heat units of apartment buildings. All heating systems were pressed and 30 per cent of homes were subject to hydropneumatic washing under the law. Today we can say that 100 percent of these measures have been implemented. At the same time, there were still works planned for the current repair of the housing stock, such as roof replacement, repair of joints, replacement of thermal insulation in basements, glazing in public areas. In fact, all works are already at the final stage, and we plan to complete them in full by October 1, said Marina Tolstik, Director General of Minsk Urban Housing.
More than 140 km of heat grids are transferred annually in Minsk. Old steel pipelines, which worked for 30-40 years, are replaced with modern preinsulated ones. “They are not susceptible to corrosion. The main advantage is the reduction of losses through insulation of thermal energy. They're new in principle. Reliability is definitely improving. The main principle of replacement is to increase the reliability of heat supply, said Dmitry Vasyukevich, head of the capital construction department of the state enterprise Minskkommunteplosset.
The new generation gas boiler house, which is fully automated, will provide heat to three Minsk-Mir microdistricts. That's about 30 houses. Its total capacity is 40 MW. The advantage of gas is high combustion efficiency, stable heat supply even in severe frosts. The project will provide not only heat in homes, according to preliminary estimates, the savings of electricity will also be significant. “Frequency converters are used on all pumping equipment, which allows the specific rate to be reduced, to work economically. According to the experience of other boiler houses, this is about 30 percent of electricity savings, said Stanislav Starodubtsev, deputy chief engineer for the operation of Minskkommunteploset.
There are 118 gas districts in the country. According to Vitaly Kretsky, Deputy Chairman of the State Standard and Director of the Energy Efficiency Department, 39 of them have a share of their own energy resources 70%. “50 to 70 per cent, another 17 per cent. About 50 districts already have a share below 50 percent. That is, the chairman of the district executive committee, if anything happens, is sure that the population will be heated and hot water will be. They'll be warm and comfortable. Given the fact that they have their own energy resources, their boiler room will work and supply heat. Our total energy consumption is 39 million tons of equivalent fuel. We are growing in terms of fuel use because the economy is growing, said Vitaly Kretsky.
Heating in the country will begin to include a clear regulation, which this year was updated. Previously, local authorities waited for five days of cold weather, now they can apply heat after three. First of all, when the average daily temperature on the street will be +10 ° C and below, in social facilities (kindergartens, schools, hospitals, clinics and sanatoriums). Then - in the housing stock, when the outside temperature will be +8 ° C and lower. Administrative and industrial buildings will be connected after the residential sector is fully supplied.
Preparation of housing facilities for the heating season is being completed in Belarus - tasks for 33 types of work have been completed
