Construction in the Kaliningrad region fell by almost 20%

The construction industry of the Kaliningrad region continues to lose momentum. In January-August 2026, the volume of work performed amounted to 55.9 billion rubles, which is 19.7% less than in the same period last year in comparable prices. Such data is given by Kaliningradstat.

The gap increased with each month. According to the results of the first half of the year, construction organizations performed works worth 39.3 billion rubles - 83% of the level of 2025. In January-July, the indicator decreased to 81.4%, and for eight months to 80.3%.

At the same time, large and medium-sized construction companies are still provided with orders. At the end of August, their portfolio of contracts was estimated at 15.5 billion rubles. According to statistics, this volume will be enough for about 8.1 months of work.

Against the background of the general recession in the region began to introduce less housing. For eight months, 571.7 thousand square meters were handed over - 12.6% less than a year earlier. In total, 2,527 residential buildings for 7.7 thousand apartments were built.

Indicators of individual construction have decreased significantly. In January-August, residents and private developers built 2,344 houses with a total area of 309.7 thousand square meters. This is only 54.2% of the level of the same period in 2025.

During the same period, 862 houses with a total area of 83.7 thousand square meters were built on garden plots. Here the decline was less pronounced - 13.1% for the year.
