The court postponed the hearing in the case of Lercek due to the deterioration of her health

The next court hearing on the criminal case of blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek) was postponed due to a sharp deterioration in her health against the background of cancer, the press reports.

Despite the serious diagnosis of the accused and the request of the defense on the need for specialized treatment in foreign clinics, the current measures of procedural restraint and restrictions on travel outside the Russian Federation remain in force. Lawyers emphasize that the judicial and investigative bodies are aware of the severity of the blogger’s health, but the procedure for agreeing to travel abroad for persons under investigation requires strict medical examinations in state institutions.

Earlier, Chekalina and her ex-wife were charged in cases of illegal currency transactions and withdrawal of funds abroad on forged documents.
