The court recovered 615 thousand rubles from a self-employed contractor for an unbuilt house
Velikolu city court satisfied the claim of a local resident to a self-employed contractor from Pskov

Velikolu city court satisfied the claim of a local resident to a self-employed contractor from Pskov. The woman ordered a frame house, but did not receive it, the press service of the courts of the region told “MK in Pskov”.
According to the materials of the case, in February 2026, the parties concluded a contract for 155 thousand rubles. The plaintiff transferred 195 thousand rubles to the contractor - an advance payment for materials and additional payments at his request.
The work was to be completed 14 days after the advance, but the household was not manufactured and delivered on time. In April, the parties corresponded about the delivery of the finished product, but the defendant referred first to restrictions for freight transport, then to the hospital and did not fulfill its obligations.
The court found that the defendant was registered as self-employed. Despite the absence of the status of an individual entrepreneur, the Law “On Protection of Consumer Rights” was applied to legal relations: the contractor carried out activities in the field of construction work for systematic profit. The self-employed regime does not reduce the amount of responsibility to the customer.
The defendant did not prove that the failure to execute the order was due to force majeure or the fault of the consumer.
The court satisfied the claim in full and recovered from the contractor 615 thousand rubles.
