Artificial intelligence and its impact on humans became the subject of an unusual meeting in the Terengul inter-municipal branch of the penitentiary inspection. Archpriest Victor Pochobut spoke with the convicted prisoners about where the boundary between the benefits of modern technologies and the responsibility of the person himself passes.
The conversation was built around the topic “Christian teaching about man and the challenges of modern technologies”. The priest touched upon the issues of human dignity, freedom of conscience and the preservation of live communication in the context of the increasingly active use of digital tools.
Separately settled on artificial intelligence. According to Archpriest Victor Pochobut, AI can help a person in various fields, but it should not be perceived as a person or an independent moral subject. Responsibility for decisions made using technology, in any case, remains on the person.
The priest also drew attention to the risk of overreliance on digital assistants. He expressed the opinion that the constant shifting of intellectual tasks to artificial intelligence can negatively affect the independence of thinking. The participants of the meeting were urged to consciously use new technologies and take into account not only their capabilities, but also their limitations.
The conversation ended with questions from the convicts, who are registered with the inspection. The regional FSIN noted that such meetings are held as part of the work on spiritual and moral education and social adaptation of subordinate citizens.
