T2 joins RCC to fight phone fraud and work on 5G internationally

T2, a Russian mobile operator, has joined the Regional Communications Commonwealth (RCC). Participation in the organization will allow T2 to work on the most pressing and pressing issues of telecom together with the international community. The main areas of cooperation will be the introduction of AI technologies, countering telephone fraud and cybercrime, discussing international tariff policy and developing 5G/6G standards.

Following the last meeting, T2 joined the Council of Telecommunication and Infocommunication Operators of RCC. It is an intergovernmental coordinating body in the field of communications and IT, which unites specialized digital ministries of 13 countries and more than 60 companies.

In the context of global changes in the telecom industry, the analysis of international experience is an important tool for benchmarking the best practices in regulation and business transformation. The Council serves as a platform for discussing priority tasks and useful cases in telecom, developing technical standards and regulations, and introducing innovations.

One of the key areas of cooperation is the development of modern technologies in communication networks, including artificial intelligence and 5G, which is especially important in light of the recent commercial launch of the standard in Russia. The members of the Council are consolidated to combat telephone fraud, solve information security issues, form the principles of operator mutual settlements and international services. Working bodies on such issues as the use of radio frequencies, informatization of society, digital transformation of the state and business are organized on the basis of the RCC.

Today, the RCC unites “digital” ministries of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Cuba.

Dmitry Petrov, Deputy General Director for Corporate Development T2:

" Joining the RCC gives T2 the opportunity to directly exchange experience with telecom representatives from different countries and participate in discussions of common market objectives. Consolidation of representatives of the telecommunications industry and other industries is critical to the fight against telephone fraud. But such crimes are often committed from abroad, so cooperation with other countries allows us to take the discussion of the topic to a new level. The same applies to 5G and 6G issues: if in the first case there will be a valuable exchange of cases, in the second case – work on a standard, the requirements for which are still being formed. Such exchange of practices will help to better understand the changes in the industry and take into account the experience of other countries in developing their own solutions.”.
