Taxi drivers will disappear from the stations of Bashkiria

The State Assembly Committee on Housing Policy and Infrastructure Development approved amendments to the regional law on the organization of transport services for the population. The document prohibiting the imposition of taxi services at the airport, train stations and bus stations, the Parliament will consider the final reading in the near future.

As explained by the Chairman of the State Assembly Andrei Nazarov, the bill provides that services for the transportation of passengers and luggage can be provided only in specially designated places.

According to the speaker of the parliament, the innovation will provide passengers with comfort, and carriers with equal and transparent working conditions.

“The first impression of the republic, the opinion about hospitality, organization, respect for people are received at the airport and railway stations,” Andrei Nazarov said. It is unacceptable to overshadow it with intrusive service and a sense of uncontrollability at the entrance. The standard should be clear navigation and clear rules. This will be another step towards increasing the tourist attraction. The guests should be welcomed so that they want to return.

Taxi barkers are drivers who illegally offer their services to passengers right at the exit from the airport, bus stations and railway stations, blocking the passage. Unlike legal services, they do not have a permit for transportation and do not undergo mandatory pre-trip medical examination and technical control.

Because of this, the passenger on the trip is not protected: his life and health are not insured, and in case of breakdown or refusal of the driver to continue the trip to return money or get a replacement car is almost impossible.

Authorities and experts identify several serious risks. First, safety: the driver may be drunk and the car may be malfunctioning. Secondly, the financial insecurity of the passenger: during such a trip there is no guarantee that he will be taken to the place, and in case of problems, the money will be returned. Third, psychological discomfort: the passenger, especially after a long trip, is forced to literally push through the crowd bellowing just to get out of the building.

The emergence of taxi services such as “Yandex Go” and Uber radically changed the market of passenger transportation. People received transparent tariffs, non-cash payment and the opportunity to evaluate the trip, as well as the entrance of the car directly to the call place. Therefore, the demand for bomber services has almost disappeared. Illegals’ food supply has been reduced to a minimum, and they are now forced to grab people’s hands as they exit train stations. The expectation that visitors may not know the cost of trips and distances, and therefore there is an opportunity to heat them for money.

Compliance with the new Bashkir law will be monitored through regular raids, and officials of the Ministry of Transport of Bashkortostan will draw up protocols on administrative offenses.

Note that such measures are already in place in the Moscow region. The authorities of Bashkiria are guided by this experience, as well as the practice of Moscow, where fines for illegal immigrants start from five thousand rubles.
