Checking the combat readiness of the Armed Forces of Belarus continues in one of the artillery brigades. The maneuvers involve active soldiers-artillery and conscripts, called up from the reserve. At firing positions came the calculations of 152-mm self-propelled units 2S5 "Hiacint-S" and 152-mm towed howitzers 2A65 "Msta-B". On tactical exercises, the brigade is practicing the fight against field artillery of a conditional enemy with a constant change of firing positions. All the actions of the gunners are practiced taking into account the experience of modern armed conflicts.
The actions of the guardsmen are overseen by Deputy Secretary of State of the Security Council Major General Andrei Gorbatenko. He noted that in accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, an inspection of the artillery brigade of the Armed Forces is being conducted under the leadership of the State Secretariat. Currently, tactical exercises with live firing are being conducted with the brigade. The main goal of the exercises is to really assess the readiness and ability of the brigade to perform the tasks as intended. It is for this purpose that the necessary tactical situation, the necessary reinforcement means transferred to the brigade were created: the brigade performs combat training tasks.
Andrey Gorbatenko noted that the exercises of this scale with an artillery brigade are held for the first time. Therefore, they have many features:
“Firstly, the brigade units do not operate at their training ground, but are withdrawn to areas unfamiliar to them. In addition, all units operate at real distances. This allows us to assess how the management system is organized, whether the brigade management system is capable of solving all management tasks, how all supporting systems function.”.
Among the participants of the exercises a large number of military servicemen. The gunners performed a very difficult task - the use of high-precision munitions in the defeat of targets, and the calculation that used them was completely among the conscripts.
“All the material is summarized, analyzed, it will be reported to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the leadership of the Armed Forces in order to take this into account in the preparation of artillery units,” he said.
