Tambov pensioner gave fraudsters more than 6 million rubles

In the village of Petrovsky Michurinsky district of Tambov region there was a blatant case of fraud. A 62-year-old woman turned to the duty unit of the local police department, who became the victim of scammers and lost all her savings.

According to the victim, on October 6, she received a call from unknown people who introduced themselves as employees of the special services. For persuasiveness, fraudsters used video calls, where people “in uniform” persuaded a pensioner to “declar” their savings. Believing the false law enforcement officers, the woman gave the courier – a young girl – more than 6 million rubles. Realizing the fraud, the victim went to the police.

Thanks to the coordinated work of operatives, a 21-year-old resident of one of the northern regions of Russia was detained the next day. It was established that the detainee managed to hide the stolen money in the forest belt for transfer to accomplices. The girl traveled to different regions of the country by taxi. Now the police are checking her involvement in similar crimes on the territory of other subjects of the Russian Federation.

A criminal case has been opened for fraud on an especially large scale. An investigation is under way.

A special cynicism of the situation is given by the fact that just an hour before the fatal call with the pensioner, the district police commissioner conducted a preventive conversation. He warned the woman about the frequent cases of calls from false intelligence officers and gave recommendations on how not to become a victim of fraud. However, unfortunately, the conversation did not have the proper effect - the woman fell for the trick of scammers.
