Tomsk doctors saved a young mother and a newborn with bilateral pneumonia
31-year-old Svetlana at the 32nd week of pregnancy worsened kidney disease

31-year-old Svetlana was preparing to become a mother. Pregnancy proceeded almost perfectly: a little disturbed the kidney, but the woman was properly treated by a doctor. At the 32nd week, she caught a bad cold, and with acute pain in her kidney, she was hospitalized by ambulance in the Tomsk Regional Clinical Hospital.
First, Svetlana put a stent, but the pain did not go away, and the temperature rose to 41 degrees. After ultrasound, MRI and consultation, the doctors decided to operate. Both the patient and the kidney were saved: they performed an operation, established nephrostoma and removed four carbuncles - severe purulent inflammation. The woman put a special drainage tube, with her she went into labor.
Gynecologist TOKB, having assessed the risks - it was already the third anesthesia for the body - decided to urgently transfer the patient to the Regional Perinatal Center to reduce the burden on the child. The OPC conducted all the necessary studies, found placenta previa and appointed a cesarean section at the 37th week.
The struggle for the life of little David began. The boy was born with an 8 out of 9 Apgar score but stopped breathing an hour after birth. The cause is bilateral congenital pneumonia.
The first 40 minutes after giving birth, Svetlana held her son in her arms, then he was taken away. For a week the baby was on a strong ventilator, then he was transferred to lighter tubes. David spent 11 days in intensive care.
Today, he is already breathing on his own, he was transferred to the neonatal pathology department. Doctors continue to treat the child for pneumonia, but now Svetlana herself will take care of him - after a two-week separation, mother and baby are back together.
