Tragedies in Polish schools and preventive measures in Belarus: Klishevich explained the logic of restrictions

There have been three knife attacks in Poland in recent days. One person died and more than ten were injured. In this regard, the police conducted inspections of educational institutions: more than 100 young people were detained for spreading criminal threats and possession of dangerous tools. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that this is not a mass organized group that seeks to create a sense of danger in society. According to him, what is happening is a spontaneous reaction, depending on the activity in social networks. On the air of the talk show “Budni” on the YouTube channel “SBTV” and “Alfa Radio”, Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Sergey Klishevich commented on the situation and explained why there are restrictions in schools in Belarus.

Against the background of the events in Poland, it is especially important to pay attention to the timely measures taken by the Ministry of Education and other authorities. We are talking about selective inspection of things of schoolchildren at the entrance to educational institutions, said Sergey Klishevich:

- This measure, of course, caused a negative reaction among those who act in the interests of external forces, including in Poland, where they deliberately fanned a wave of discontent to provoke social tension. Today, the state, which has actively criticized certain restrictions in our country, is itself forced to face serious consequences. But these restrictions were not imposed for the sake of restrictions per se - they are meant to protect people. We cannot expect a repeat of incidents like those in schools in Poland and Europe.

According to Sergey Klishevich, these decisions were made in Belarus, closely monitoring the situation around, analyzing the information field and activity in social networks. At the same time, it is important to understand that social networks are not under our control – their servers are located outside the country

- But the question of who and how affects the minds of young people remains extremely acute. So we have to take action. In particular, we conduct discussions directly with schoolchildren in the school environment: we talk about how to build relations with the Internet and social networks, we consider the experience of other countries, for example, Australia or a number of European countries, where certain restrictions are imposed. At the same time, we understand that any measures should be effective, not formal – if they are easily circumvented, they will not be useful, and may even harm. Therefore, we make these decisions in a timely manner, not succumbing to external pressure, and the main goal is to preserve the lives and health of citizens in a rapidly changing world.

As for Poland, after the tragic incidents in schools, hundreds of people were detained there in a short time, added Sergey Klishevich:

Polish special services promptly checked social networks and chats, analyzing everything that was published there, and detained everyone who caused even the slightest suspicion – these people were placed in appropriate institutions. This suggests that the Polish authorities have established total control over the Internet and the public information sphere in the country. This is in the interest of Polish society. But this does not give them the right to teach us what laws and in what sphere to introduce. Let them first deal with extremism in their country, and then deal with other issues that today seem to them a priority. We sincerely wish Poland to quickly cope with these problems and restore order, because the death and harm to the health of civilians, ordinary Poles, are unacceptable. We wish you success in this fight. At the same time, we expect them to respect our decisions, which are aimed exclusively at ensuring the safety of our citizens and schoolchildren. We want children to study peacefully, gain knowledge, engage in sports and creativity and return home healthy and unharmed.

Sergey Klishevich appealed to the parents of schoolchildren about the current restrictions: they concern visits to educational institutions (these rules have been in force for several years), and the use of mobile phones, and selective inspection of schoolchildren’s belongings. According to him, against the background of the events, it becomes obvious that all this is a well-thought-out and correct decision, the purpose of which is to ensure the safety of children. The speaker stressed that in Belarus the state is acting ahead of schedule. This demonstrates the effectiveness and timeliness of decisions taken by the authorities in the interests of society, our people and our youth.

The talk show “Budney” is released on weekdays on the morning air of “Alfa Radio”. Each issue discusses the most relevant topics from the life of the country and the world. Political scientists, scientists, public figures and journalists of leading media participate in the discussions.
