Fountains track in Petrozavodsk is preparing for the ski season

On November 7 at 10:00, the final autumn Saturday of 2026 will be held here. All interested persons are invited to participate.

Volunteers plan to install new holders for skiing at the fork and at the beginning of the route, as well as mowing the shrub at the site to the fork. The organizers will provide all the necessary equipment. Upon completion of the work, the participants will receive a treat - sausages on the grill and tea in the gazebo at the fork.

The Fountains track has a rich history. It originated in the 1950s and 1960s, when geologists drilled wells in the forest, from which water clogged in winter, forming ice pyramids. It was these natural sculptures that attracted the first skiers who trampled the ski along a narrow gap.

In the 1990s, the city administration launched the competition “Ski Calls for Fountains” (now the Winter Fountains festival), and the preparation of the track began with the help of snowmobiles. In recent years, the object has been actively landscaped: a swing has been installed here, a family zone with a campfire bowl has been equipped and a “cafe” at the fork has been put in order - a wooden gazebo decorated with carved figures of swans, hares, foxes, hedgehogs and beaver, where tea and ear are sold in winter. Over the past two years, 12 new bridges have been added to the route.
