Tula Minister Trunov compared sports with a second education for a child
The Minister of Sports of the Tula region Mikhail Trunov believes that sports help children not only to develop physical skills, but also teach discipline, responsibility and teamwork

The Minister of Sports of the Tula region Mikhail Trunov believes that sports help children not only to develop physical skills, but also teach discipline, responsibility and teamwork. He said this in an interview that journalists recorded in the multifunctional sports complex "Tulitsa" during the final day of the School Sports League in athletics.
I must say that Trunov himself was a professional athlete in the past and twice won the Russian Cup in powerlifting. Now he regularly runs, does strength training and raises three children who are also fond of sports.
Special attention was paid to the role of training in the upbringing of the child. The Minister stressed that the competition should be interesting and comfortable for participants, and not be reduced to a formal race.
“Competitions are a product and should be packaged like candy. To make a person interesting, it is convenient that he receives positive emotions. Not just come in, run and go. I generally believe that sport is a second education for a child, the minister said.
At the same time, Trunov warned parents against excessive loads and attempts to realize their own sports ambitions through children. In his opinion, this approach can permanently discourage the child’s desire to engage.
In the interview, the minister also spoke about the fight for training grounds in Tula and how to attract people who have not previously engaged in physical activity to sports.

By the way, earlier MK in Tula reported that Governor Dmitry Milyaev outlined plans to develop cooperation with sports federations. In particular, it was announced that in December, the commission of the State Council of the Russian Federation in the direction of Physical Culture and Sport intends to summarize the work for 2026 and determine tasks for the next year, taking into account the proposals of the federations.
