Tulyaks revealed to researchers their main victims in the name of vacation
Most residents of Tula are ready to reduce daily expenses to save up for vacation

Most Tula residents are willing to cut down on daily expenses to save up for vacations. For the sake of the trip, they save on entertainment, cafes and shopping, but do not want to sacrifice impressions and comfortable accommodation. This is stated in a joint study of the jewelry brand SOKOLOV and the travel planning service OneTwoTrip, which MK in Tula got acquainted with.
According to the survey, 67% of Tula residents are ready to cut their usual expenses for the sake of travel: 40% - moderately, and 27% - significantly. Most often, the trip is saved from three to six months. The most popular amount of monthly savings is from 5 to 10 thousand rubles.
Most of all, residents of the region want to save money for a trip to a long-desired place or travel to Asia. Among the formats of rest, trips to several countries and family trips are leading.
First of all, Tulaks reduce the cost of entertainment and parties, cafes and food delivery. Many are also willing to temporarily give up buying clothes, shoes and gadgets. At the same time, spontaneous purchases for yourself remain one of the usual expenses, with which it is not easy for some to part.
Preparing for vacation, 42% of respondents in the region try not to spend more than usual. Others upgrade their wardrobe or buy cosmetics. When planning a trip, travelers often choose cheaper accommodation, refuse to eat at the hotel, fly with one hand luggage or agree to an uncomfortable departure and transfer time.
The choice of direction also helps to reduce costs. According to OneTwoTrip, from the beginning of 2026 among the Russian cities with the most affordable hotels were Tuapse, Cherepovets, Orenburg, Togliatti and Orel. Abroad, this list includes Entebbe in Uganda, Johannesburg in South Africa, Da Nang in Vietnam, Kuta in Indonesia and Pattaya in Thailand.
Already on vacation, Tula often save on shopping, use public transport instead of taxis and buy fewer souvenirs. However, there are costs that travelers are not ready to give up: more than half of the study participants cited entertainment and experiences as important, as well as convenient location of accommodation.
At the same time, most still bring gifts from trips to loved ones, souvenirs, local products and products of regional brands. If there is not enough money for a dream trip, some choose a cheaper hotel and flight, others are ready to save as much as they need. Some reduce the duration of rest or postpone it to a more suitable time.
Earlier, “MK in Tula” wrote that residents of the region will be able to visit theaters and museums at a discount for parents. The fact is that from October 25 to November 8 in the Tula region will be held a new stage of the all-Russian action “Take parents to the museum, theater, concert hall”. Young people with the Pushkin Card will be able to attend about 150 cultural events together with their parents, who will receive a discount on a ticket for the same event. Its size will depend on the specific institution.
