In the Kaliningrad region expect to collect from 680 to 690 thousand tons of grain this year, despite prolonged rains. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the region Artem Ivanov in an interview with TASS.
Last year, farmers harvested a record 814,000 tons of grain. The authorities would like to bring this figure to a million tons, but this season the weather has complicated the work of agricultural enterprises.
According to the minister, it has been raining since early July. This made it difficult both to harvest and to plant. Now farmers are trying to collect grain and complete the sowing of winter crops.
Ivanov noted that the region has the necessary equipment and qualified specialists. In terms of sowing rates, the region is still ahead of last year's indicators.
The most difficult situation is with vegetables: due to the large amount of precipitation, it will be difficult to preserve the harvest. The Minister stressed that farmers have to work in difficult conditions.
Earlier we wrote that Bezprozvennykh thanked Kaliningrad farmers for their work in a difficult season.
