A student cannot secretly film a teacher on camera and upload a recording to the Internet. This was told on the air of the TV channel STV by the lawyer of the Minsk Regional Bar Association Zarina Zalevskaya, reports sb.by.

The lawyer reminded that any gadgets in the school are prohibited. If a child brings a phone with him, he must leave it in a certain place.

“If it happens that he brought and secretly began to take pictures of the teacher in class or at recess, and then puts it on the network, then the law on the protection of personal data begins to work,” Zarina Zalevskaya said.

She added that in order to spread information about a person, his appearance, even his voice, consent is necessary.

“If there is no such consent, a person has the right to apply either to law enforcement agencies or to a court for pecuniary or moral damage. There are also cases when a child posts an image of a teacher and under this photo places some unpleasant words, music that offends the teacher. In such a situation, the teacher also has the right to apply to law enforcement agencies. Such actions of the child can be qualified as petty hooliganism, insult or slander, the lawyer stressed.

Zarina Zalevskaya reminded that the teacher has no right to raise his voice on the student, no matter what he did.

“If pupils have enrolled teachers for the sole purpose of protecting themselves, it is probably not entirely ethical. They had to contact the school principal, their parents or law enforcement agencies and tell them that such a situation had occurred, she explained.
