In 2025, 101 children aged from one year to 17 years inclusive died in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The data of medical organizations are published in the report of the Ombudsman for Children’s Rights in the region.

45 children died from somatic diseases - in 2024 there were 49 such cases, in 2023 - 39. In particular, the cause of death of ten minors was degenerative changes in the CNS (17 in 2024, 18 in 2023). Oncological diseases claimed the lives of seven children, for the year this figure fell by half.

Six minors died from infectious diseases: two a year earlier, eight in 2023. Congenital malformations and inherited diseases caused the death of 14 children in 2025, 7 in 2024 and 21 in 2023.

From external causes, 55 minors died, another seven died from other causes.
