In 2027, Saratov residents will increase pensions twice
Pensions will be indexed twice a year

Pensions will be indexed twice a year. This was announced at a press conference on October 9 by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. She confirmed the forecast of the Ministry of Finance, according to which payments should grow from February 1, the second indexation is scheduled for April 1. Now in the Saratov region the average size of insurance old-age pension is 24482 rubles.
Russia will resume double indexation of pensions, interrupted in 2019. According to Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, the budget of the Social Fund again provides for the recalculation of payments twice a year. First, payments will be raised on February 1, 2027 – approximately by 6.8%, based on the inflation rate for 2026. And from April 1, the second wave will take place: the insurance part of the pension will be increased in accordance with the growth rate of the wage fund for the previous year. According to the forecast of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, announced at the end of September this year, the April increase will be 3.3%. However, it will not affect the entire pension, but only its insurance part.
You can estimate future payments using preliminary indexation coefficients. With a pension of 20 thousand rubles, the February increase of 6.8% will give an increase of 1360 rubles. As a result, the pension will increase to 21,360 rubles. With the April increase, the calculation will not pass: 3.3% are accrued on the insurance part of the pension, and not on a fixed payment. As a result, the size of the increase will depend on what exactly the pension of a particular person consists of.
“Who would receive these pensions...” is a bitter joke that more and more accurately describes the social picture. According to the SFR, for the year the number of pensioners in Russia decreased by 409 thousand people. On June 1, 2026, there were 40.446 million of them against 40.856 million a year earlier. At the same time, older people are increasingly forced to work: the number of workers for the year increased by 621,000 and reached 8.403 million people.
The sharp “loss” of pensioners can primarily be explained by the transition period of raising the retirement age: in 2025, Russians did not retire due to old age. As explained by the economists of RANEPA, the right to well-deserved rest received only those who have formed the basis for early insurance pension, disability pension, loss of breadwinner, state security. As for demographic indicators, it is impossible to learn them: in 2025, Rosstat removed statistics on mortality, fertility and migration from public access.
Saratov region is also losing pensioners. In early October, MK in Saratov analyzed data from the regional Social Fund and found that over six years the number of pensioners decreased by almost 90 thousand people. As of July 1, 2026, 654,286 pensioners lived in the region. For comparison: in 2025 there were 665307, in 2023 - 684482, in 2022 - 703095. As of July 1, 2020, the number of pensioners in the Saratov region was 743595 people. Thus, over six years, the number of citizens receiving pension payments decreased by 89,309 people.
The publication of statistics caused a violent reaction of Internet subscribers of the publication. The reform was carried out, pushed back from pension for five years – my husband was denied, points are not enough. It is not known whether he will earn them in the rest of his life"; "What is the real reason for the decrease in the number of pensioners in six years by almost 100,000 people? Raising the retirement age or mortality? Or the second directly follows from the first?; “If you raise the retirement age to 90 years, there will be no pensioners at all!”.
Ironically, another reader adds: “Onishchenko stated that women under 60 can give birth, and men in 90 can have children. It is a mysterious plan for the development of the country.” Another user draws attention to the general demographic situation: “There will soon be no people left in Saratov, let alone pensioners. In the 90s, Kirov Avenue was teeming with people, there was no free place in the cafe, and now there is a void. People go if the avenue is shorter.”.
