In the Mogilev region in 2027 plan to build 105 thousand square meters of rental housing

In the Mogilev region, the volume of construction of rental housing is growing. Compared to last year, its number has increased almost one and a half times, construction is carried out at a faster pace. There are already 105,000 squares in the plans for next year, sb.by reports.

For eight months of this year, 267 thousand square meters of housing were commissioned in the Mogilev region, of which 11.3 thousand with state support and 62 thousand with rental (1,094 apartments). As of January 1, 2026, 56,356 families were registered in need of improving living conditions in the region.

First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Architecture and Construction of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee Alexander Marfonov notes that the total housing commissioning in the region exceeds last year’s level by 14 thousand “squares”:

- The demand for rental housing in the region is high: in small settlements for one apartment from two to 15 applicants, in Mogilev - up to 40. Plans for next year have already been calculated: 391 thousand square meters, we plan to exceed this figure by five thousand. For rental apartments, the bar is set at 105 thousand squares. According to the state program for the next five years, an increase in the construction of rental housing is planned. First of all, in small towns with an emphasis on developing production facilities with reference to jobs: Cherikov, Round, Glusk and others. Next year, they planned to build houses in almost every district center. The design and estimate documentation for 2027 is ready, so if there is money from savings, we will start construction from November.

A clear calculation of the need for rental housing taking into account the arrival of young specialists is the area of responsibility of district executive committees, strict control is carried out at the regional level. As of June 1, 780 young specialists arrived in the region, of which 62 have already been allocated rental housing. By the end of the year, 2823 specialists will come, of which 308 people need rental housing. This year, more than 290 applications for rental apartments for military personnel.

Alexander Marfonov added that electrodomes remain a trend in construction: for eight months, 93.5 thousand squares were built, which is 124 percent of the annual task. Special attention is paid to support large families: 114 apartments were built in eight months, 461 families were aimed at improving living conditions. Mogilev region is the only one where all the regional budget funds allocated for housing construction are used for the construction and acquisition of residential premises for social use. More than 80 such apartments were built in eight months. This strategy gives the result: if five years ago about 4,000 orphans were registered in need of better housing conditions, today 2,700 are registered.
